As a couple for the last 8 years the path we crossed was not always a smooth one and free of disagreements, we have difficult times but that’s part of married life, the real one that is not fictionalized. We’re not perfect and nobody is and at this time and age when some of my friends remained alone and single, some were already at odds with their spouses, some have financial and marital issues and some had lost their partner naturally, I feel luckier that despite the many imperfections we still have each other to wake up each morning.

And there’s no real secret to it because we’re just choosing love everyday, we still go on dates like it was the first few months of being together, we goof at coffee shops –we enjoy the little things that’s it.

Ssshhh, it makes a little perfect if you have the same sweet tooth and love for coffee and Chinese food and cheese and chocolates!

The truth, I just want to make way for these foodie pics! 🙂

Have a lovely Sunday folks! 😛

family weekend|jun 14-15

We marked Father’s Day a day in advance last June, we thought that Tagaytay would be another busy sight comes the occasion itself, we don’t want to take chances besides we wanted to rest that Sunday and there’s no place like the comfort of being at home, doing nothing. 🙂

familyweekend_17

Leoncio, Sam & I drove ahead of everyone at the ridge, we wanted to savor a light snack first before the anticipated mass at The Little Souls. We checked on Bo’s Coffee, the coffee shop near Gerry’s Grill, only to find out that it ceased operation since last year. How come we didn’t know? 😀 We decided to drive towards Maharlika West but none that appealed to us, first we wanted something new to try on and second, something that isn’t too expensive at all. Before we knew it we’ve almost wasted our open time on the road and time was ticking fast. We then decided to drive heading to The Little Souls, there’s a small coffee nook just across the church and we thought it would probably solve our coffee fixation at the moment. The place wasn’t new to us in fact we’ve tried it twice but it was only that day that we knew the coffee shop’s name –The King’s Crumb Bakeshop. All the while I thought its name was Coconut Cream Pie which was their bestseller by the way. Leoncio and I had coffee while our little Miss got bottled iced tea, we also had chocolate crinkles, oatmeal cookies and the coconut cream pie itself.

familyweekend_18

A slice is enough because it tends to have that “suya” factor probably from the rich coconut cream.

familyweekend_19

We didn’t stay too long because we don’t want to get in late for the 6pm mass. We all loved attending mass at The Little Souls because it remained serene all throughout the celebration besides mass goers here remained to be observant of the supposed dress code during mass, not entirely the traditional one about no cross-dressing, people here at least dressed modestly. 🙂 We met up the entire family at the church soon after.

Right after mass we had dinner at KFC Sky Ranch, a very simple one for Father’s Day I know but it’s the togetherness that always counts and family time, quality family time to be certain. The Sky rides of course weren’t missed by the kids; our big little P would request a train ride each time.

While waiting for the duo to finish their train ride we strolled around the Sky Ranch activity area where Altura, the Mercato of Tagaytay is located. Unlike the first Mercato in BGC and the former Cucina Andare, Altura had a very limited choice of food items and probably because the place is big, the market seemed a bit disorganized. I hope there’s a better concept at this side of the ridge because it tends to look like a regular flea market.

familyweekend_26

We went home early because someone had work the following day, you know who, but at the end of another day, of another family weekend, I always thank God for all His blessings, it may be so little at times other than it remained countless each day. There is always, always, always something to be thankful for. 🙂

the coffee bean & tea leaf

Jun 7.  Because we’ve been partial to Starbucks coffee and dessert we had this tendency to revisit and revisit thus the idea of dining at a different coffee shop was always somewhere off the topic. But since our current fixations are pasta and salads we keep our options open this time. 🙂

cbtl_1

We keep on passing by Coffee Bea and Tea Leaf in Salcedo Village for the longest time, and everytime we do I can’t help but adore its peaceful ambiance, well on weekends perhaps and I can’t attest if it’s the same scenery during the week days. I love it even from afar because the place doesn’t get too overly crowded, there’s always an empty seat for diners.

cbtl_2

Well, I’m slowly morphing back to becoming a coffee addict despite the acid attacks and palpitation but there’s no need to worry, I know my limits and there’s always this alternative to coffee and tea –the fruity flavored drink? But once at the coffee shop I can’t hold back myself not to order a coffee blended drink, I think it’s a bit odd not to order coffee at all. During our visit at CBTL, we had dinner first, a lighter one (I guess), we had our usual favorite combination –a classic Caesar salad and sardine pasta. Yep, we can survive eating that combi everyday –fresh and tasty and warm?

cbtl_3

Coffee Bean’s Classic Caesar Salad® Everybody’s favorite! You can also opt to enjoy this traditional salad made of romaine lettuce, croutons, eggs & Caesar dressing with chicken. We got ours less the chicken.

cbtl_4

Sardine & Garlic Linguine. An olive oil-based pasta with Spanish-style sardines and roasted garlic. Garnished with parmesan cheese and parsley. I super, super love this because the garlic is crunchy and the sardine is super tasty. And because the serving is big it’s good for sharing, value for your money here. I’d probably go back for this pasta dish!

cbtl_5

CBTL cakes and pastries are very hard to resist, I can’t passed over to that Chicago Cheesecake. It’s not the usual cheesecakes you’d find around, that’s too foamy and soft or sweet, CBTL’s cheesecake had that perfect texture.  From now on, I’m declaring it as one of my must-try cheesecakes in town. ♥

cbtl_6

Chicago Cheesecake. Velvety cream cheese with a hint of lemony tartness, on a subtle almond cookie crust – best with Espresso.

cbtl_7

The cookie monster husband would always get a small or big piece of cookie to pair his coffee. He had the Café Americano –one of his usual requests. While I had the ice blended one, Mocha if I remember it right. Hehehe. I love my drink only that it’s too filling, probably because of its heavy cream.

cbtl_8

Ice Blended Mocha. Mocha lovers, you’ll be in heaven… Our delectable Special Dutch™ Chocolate and Coffee Extract blended with ice and non-fat milk.

cbtl_9

The next time we’ll visit I’ll try the All Day Breakfast –Eggs Ben, Bagel, Salmon Scramble, I can’t wait! 😀

sundate no.22

sundate_no.22_1

I promised the kids last year that we’re not visiting Sky Ranch anytime soon unless the commercial area is up and running. It’s only this Feb that we had the chance to come back, I know it’s a bit overdue because it’s been a big hit during the holidays but we purposely avoided the place because of the heavy traffic and commotion it caused the entire Christmas time. I’m always complaining whenever we pass by.

sundate_no.22_2

Feb 2. As expected everytime I come home the kids would request a day out or much aptly a treat to their favorite coffee shop in Tagaytay. We’ve seen Krispy Kreme opening soon announcement weeks ago so I was thinking it might be open by now. I didn’t told anyone we’re visiting KK so when I suddenly asked Leoncio to go into Sky Ranch parking area that day he was somewhat surprised because he knew how I hated crammed full places. Fortunately that Sunday the people were less numbered and parking was trouble-free. 🙂 I’m seeing P’s big grin as we alighted and welcomed by the stunning Sky Eye. But first things first, I told him that we’re not going inside Sky Ranch, we’re there to dine at KK and doughnuts and coffee will be our mains. He was agreeable to that at first but kids would always be kids no matter what amount of channeling you’ve done. In short, our initial ploy didn’t work and he won again. Sigh!

sundate_no.22_15

Before the Sky Ranch thing for the two kids –SAM & P (oh yes, I still dub Ate SAM as a kid until this day), I told them that we need to order and eat first so that KK won’t throw us outside, they might think we’re just using their chairs and tables lingering while catching up the Sky’s attraction. Hehehe.

sundate_no.22_3

sundate_no.22_6

Krispy Kreme at Sky Ranch was perfect for toddlers and kids and grown-ups, it’s all-around because the outdoor (facing the Sky Ranch) was pretty spacious and the interior –cozy. I’d love to go back here probably on a weekday and lounge and people watch. Anyhow, because it was nearing Valentine’s Day then, KK had heart shaped doughnuts to go with the theme. We got a dozen to munch paired with coffee.

sundate_no.22_4

Ysabel at her cutest! 😛

sundate_no.22_5

SAM and P quickly finished their food and hurriedly left to enjoy Sky Ranch once more. But because we gave them a limited budget the Sky Eye ride wasn’t part of their visit this time. But the Sky Cruiser, which is one of the newest rides, didn’t disappoint the two. 😛 They can’t contain their excitement as they drove high above. They tried a few more rides and probably spent more time walking around the compound.

Meanwhile, we take pleasure in Tagaytay cold breeze while our little baby loved the setting. She freely walks back and forth at the porch area and make OOTD a business. Hahaha.

sundate_no.22_10

I know I should be spending Sundays alone with the husband but I’m finding it hard to say no to these kids, I love them to bits almost certainly the same way I love B, except that B is of course my baby love. ♥

sundate_no.22_11

Oh, I got the kids belated Christmas gift, thank you for remembering Ninang.

sundate_no.22_12

Just what I needed.

By the way, we had a simple salo-salo at home welcoming the Year of the Horse last Jan 31. We had tikoy as customary (even if we’re no chinky-eyed and Chinese) which we shared with people who dropped by that day.

sundate_no.22_13

A different take on tikoy again this year, shaped like Chinese jewelry pouch.

And here’s to my equally hardworking Oxens, something to read on and guide you in 2014.

<source: senn.cocoloni.com>

The year 2014 for the Ox sign bearers will be better than the usual years. It might not be the life charger but it will be much more beneficial than previous years. This 2014 can be used as a stepping-stone to a fabulous 2015. There will probably be no major changes in lifestyle for 2014 but if they will do the little things that will set them up for the following year, a potential huge 2015 can be the game changer the Ox sign bearers have been looking for. Do not be afraid to rely on friends because they will be the support that the Ox sign bearers will need.

sundate_no.22_14

Seriously I’m not really bothered if the horse is faster than the ox, you never assume that victory is always connected with speed, hard work and discipline still top it all. I had a lovely sundate and no horse can ever kick and spoil it! Ciao! ♥
