The 60th Birthday!

The weekend that has just passed was tiring yet it was one remarkable weekend to recollect.

We celebrate my Tatay’s 60th Birthday with a blast –literally drink and eat all you can, and we made happy guests went home with something to remember about this day 😀

Despite the heavy rains and flooding on Friday night husband and I brave the roads to get those miniatures I was eyeing in a liquor store in Gil Puyat. Only to find out that the stocks were numbered 😦 . I settled for two dozens, assorted and a bit expensive –I feel I was charge too much bluntly because I have no choice.

And because rain was continuous, we overslept and reached Sunvalley Paranaque two hours behind the scheduled pick up. I worried that the lechon I ordered from the General’s wouldn’t be crusty and hot by the time we reached Cavite.

In no time, we reached home and get on with all the preparations, which my Nanay was completely supervising. We didn’t served lunch this time and invited everyone for merienda cena.

Now, be my guest as you read along –it was a birthday bash!

The lechon I ordered from General’s Lechon came with a reminder that says: ‘Better not to chop the lechon until it is ready to be eaten’ so I abide.

I take advantage of the time to get photos while it’s still untouched.

And I manned the chopping and was surprised on how crispy the skin was even after hours. I can’t help but get a bite of it from time to time. It was so tasty!

Like what I read on blogs who made a kitchen taste test on this lechon brand, I followed the chopping directions –crisscross the skin and serve the skin separately from the meat. Everyone loved the skin so I saved some for late comers 🙂 .

The spread –pork siomai, lumpiang shanghai, pancit bihon, dinuguan at puto, ground pork (cooked menudo-style) and pandesal, lomi and boiled egg, carioca, palitaw, kutsinta, biko, lechon, buko pandan, sansrival and chiffon cake.

This cake from Iko’s Bakeshop -Savemore Supermarket branch (Tagaytay-Mendez crossing)

My Tatay’s guests were former classmates, office friends and bosses and relatives from both sides. And everyone wished my Tatay healthiness and that he may consider another three years in service. Well, he’s having second thoughts right now about his retirement and I wished he would come up with a sensible decision soon.

Tatay, as you marked this birthday I want you to know how grateful I am to have a father like you. And as the years come and go, I appreciate you more –your love, your care, your kindness and your strength. May you continue to give us purpose and direction in making the hardest decisions.

Happy Birthday and may there be many more so we can enjoy a blissful occasion every year!

Tatay’s Birthday Last Year

P.S. Thank you to everyone who made it last Saturday 🙂

at the moment…

I am currently occupied with my day job, its quarter end close and during these times, I cannot compromise this page by having that rubbish entry. I have had a wonderful weekend with my family. It was one of the most unforgettable happenings. I was on limelight, which is every blogger’s dream 🙂  it feels good when people appreciate and recognize your existence, it inspire me more to do better and write sincere thoughts. I wish I had plenty of time.

Tomorrow I am off with some friends. Will drive south and enjoy the freshness of nature. I will write soon 🙂

lines that matter…

I am not a musically inclined person but I do appreciate at least a few good songs with momentous lines and soft timbre. I decided to do a quick post of these singular songs after I woke up listening to a very memorable and heart warming (it used to…) song of my heart.

Call me old hat but I love hearing these lines repeatedly,

“Buhos na ulan aking mundo’y lunuring tuluyan
Tulad ng pag-agos mo
‘Di mapipigil ang puso kong nagliliyab
Pag-ibig ko’y umaapaw
Damdamin ko’y humihiyaw sa tuwa
Tuwing umuulan at kapiling ka…”

“Uso pa ba ang harana
marahil ikaw ay nagtataka
sino ba ‘tong mukhang gago
nagkandarapa sa pagkanta
at sisintonado sa kaba
may’rong dalang mga rosas
suot na may ma-ong na kupas…”

“Di ko man maamin
Ikaw ay mahalaga sa akin
Di ko man maisip
Sa pagtulog ikaw ang panaginip
Malabo man ang aking pag-iisip
Sana’y pakinggan mo ang sigaw nitong damdamin
Ako’y alipin mo kahit hindi batid
Aaminin ko minsan ako’y manhid
Sana ay iyong naririnig
Sayong yakap ako’y nasasabik…”

“She’s so vulnerable, like china in my hands
She’s so vulnerable and I don’t understand
I could never hurt the one I love
She’s all I’ve got
But she’s so vulnerable
Oh so vulnerable…”

And I would always be vulnerable to my husband’s eyes, this is one song that he can sing very well…memorize nya yan promise 🙂

just killing time…

Time check, it is now 2:02AM and Bea and I are still wide-awake waiting for Oliver. He went out to party with friends this time and I have no choice but to allow him. Anyway, it happens once in a quarter so that is fine with me. I understand the need for us to grow individually, the need for us to reconnect and have a good time with our own set of friends. Though there are boundaries this time, I strongly believe that being married does not stop you from holding onto your life. Whatchathink? I am telling this from my own POV 🙂

Okay then, so what keeps me alive at this moment aside from blog hopping is Living Asia Channel and the erratic tickling of steel gates and wooden doors from outside. It is now 2:26AM and I still cannot write anything with focus. My thoughts are random and rumbled. Oh my! I am so disorganized.

Wait, finally Oliver is home. Yehey! I think that much needed sleep would happen anytime now.

And later today, we need to drive to the nearest mall. Then off to a wedding party but for now, let me greet you all a beautiful Saturday morning! 🙂

yet to be…

I have a few backlogs over the weekends, which were compromised before I went on considering opening a new blog site. You see it was a long weekend but I was somewhat busy fixing something online. I was mixed up; the long weekend was wasted to say. Anyhoo, little by little everything will be back to normal 🙂

By the way, today is Friday again and tomorrow will be the start of another long weekend. I see our weekend to be much occupied. Tomorrow, Oliver and I will be attending a wedding somewhere in Las Pinas, then on Sunday, we are off to Batangas. However, this one is still tentative because it is also town fiesta of my hometown. On Monday, Election Day, I need to cast my vote early so we could drive back to Makati earlier so Oliver can vote. We really need to fix this registration issue next time. It is either I register in Makati or Oliver transfer his registration in Indang in prep to his in-laws political career soon…lol!

For now, I am leaving you this road pic I took of my sister, Che and Bea.

Che and Bea, our road trip buddies!

Happy Friday everyone! 🙂

to begin with…

After five days of being away from the blogosphere, I am officially back and giving my journal a new face and new home.

Don’t ask me now, okay? I would eventually reveal what happened then. For now, let’s start with something good and something fresh!

Wish me luck folks!
