Sunday and McDonald’s has something that can simply put a smile on my face, the genuine kind. 🙂 I don’t know with you but despite its being classified as fast-food eatery and commonplace, I love the McDonald’s vibe especially on Sunday mornings when people take it slow.

A month ago I was happy to savor McDonald’s breakfast once again, happiest actually because this doesn’t happen very often. It was in fact a date with the husband at our favorite branch. I don’t mind that the weather was a bit warmer when we where there, it’s a little bit windy still and I love the color of the sky. It’s too perfect despite the fact that I haven’t taken a shower yet, hahaha.

smoked golden tinapa

I’m not a fan of Pancake House even prior to that November incident. And well, for one because their food is not cheap I could easily count the number of times I’ve dined in their so many restaurants. But sometimes you get to that point that you crave for something, you want something out of the ordinary and then you saw something on IG that made you drool and then you break the rule. Hahaha.

For weeks I’ve been raving for tinapa (smoked fish), even when we went home at the parental’s house I was hoping that mother dear have some leftovers at home but there’s not a bit, she was rather busy with her galunggong experiment. So when I catch sight of PH’s new offer by chance I felt I suddenly weaken and soften (to self: forget your issue for now 🙂 ), I need to rush and get a taste of that smoked golden tinapa. ♥

But because there remains a little hesitation about dining back in Pancake House I was like diddling and doodling the whole idea, I don’t want another untoward incident, I just want to enjoy the night for Christ’s sake. That was Friday and I don’t want to mess up a fridate. But even if there are 101 reasons pulling me back then, my heart’s desire won and we gave it a go! Woohoo!

I don’t mind that at past 10pm I was eating breakfast food, I don’t mind, really. My salty-cravings taste bud was in pure bliss!

Smoked golden tinapa (milkfish), 2 cups of steamed rice, 2 eggs sunny side up, 2 sidings of mango salsa and 2 orders of iced tea P480

For some reasons I don’t believe sometimes when it says that the deal is good for two already, in most cases you get a small amount of food (in poor quality) and sharing isn’t probable except if you eat like a bird. Other than PH’s offer was a treat of its own, I was impressed!

The milkfish was big enough to feed us and the sunny side egg was perfect! Kahit lalim na ng gabi nun kumain kami it brightens up my day! 😀

I don’t mind going back and ordering the same set, I rarely recommend and this one is an exemption, you should try it yourself because Pancake House hit the spot, winner ang Smoked Golden Tinapa because it’s bigger, heavier and better for sharing! ♥

olive oil and spanish sardine pasta

Because it’s Lent and we’re trying to eat healthier all over again most of our dinner are home-cooked meals nowadays. And tho it’s a real tedious thing to cook after my 12-hour office work, the wonderful feel of eating fresh and wholesome dish is a relief from the clamor of my not so-happy environment, it’s like a form of reward which I’d like to relish with the one I love. ♥

I’d like to believe that I copied effortlessly the recipe here, with a little adjustment on the quantity because we had it for two nights.

Olive Oil and Spanish Sardine Pasta
Serves 4

2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons reserved oil from bottled sardines
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1/4 cup diced tomato
1 cup flaked Spanish sardines
5 cups cooked capellini pasta
salt and pepper, to taste
8 sardine fillets for garnish

In a large sauté pan, heat olive oil and oil from sardines. Sauté garlic until fragrant. Add diced tomatoes and toss quickly. Add flaked sardines and cook for a minute. Toss in cooked capellini pasta. Season with salt and pepper.

Place two sardine fillets on top to garnish.

It’s good, soooo good that I’m doing a repeat of the dish this week. 😛

batch 90 part ii

A month ago the third meet up with my high school class happened, it was well-attended and I can’t be happier because it was something I always look forward to ever since the group agreed that it should be a monthly event, at least everyone betted the same opinion. And even it means going home only for this occasion I’m not complaining because we’re trying to push everyone to be in attendance and that time is the most important here. And every class member should spare a day to attend the meeting. We want everyone to oblige themselves of this because we need a good number of attendees if we want to make this reunion thing a celebrated one. 🙂

*I love you guys for making my day! ♥ This one taken at what used to be the grade-schoolers classroom located at the rear site of the academy.

So I was like smiling ear to ear when we had a good number in February. Imagine that even those whom we didn’t have any solid contact for the last 20+ years made it. Special mentions to Capt. Ewald Manay and Mario V, his buttress-cousin, both were classmates up until our sophomore years. Actually, everyone’s attendance was surprising because none of them either confirmed or declined to our invite and yet they came, in full force!

Our mini-get together didn’t end there; everyone was in the mood for a little extension. We drove to the ridge side and savored some pizza and warmed our bellies with hot coffee later on. It was day –a much unexpected occasion which turned out to be a super exciting and merry one for the record. 😛

stmark90_8

Then came Mar 29, our supposed 4th meet up. The venue remained to be the academe, only which this time we invited the other section, the Matthews, whom we’ve always looked up as the “elite” class. Not that their brainy and smarter than anyone of the Marky’s, hahaha, we’re considering more that most of them were borne to well-off families. Hey, but we were no way left out when academic is the subject matter, we have our own league of geniuses. Hehehe

stmark90_9

Okay, last Saturday meet up was a disappointment especially on my part because I was presiding and yet I felt no is interested anymore, 😦 the invite was taken for granted. 😦 I wasn’t expecting the number to double but at least improve in a way but it didn’t happen. Sigh! But in a way, I’d like to thank Doc Joan for showing up despite her busy schedule and Jon R, because you’ll be Matthew’s rep from now on.

stmark90_10

But I’m not giving up, this batch reunion is a go and it would be a success the way I foresee it in my mind. Right Mr. Co-Chair? We just need more patience and time and encouragement and effort and energy and money to make it happen! 🙂
